Locally known as “Ifit”, Merbau trees are tropical lowland trees growing from coastal to inland areas up to 1,000 ft. in elevation, and reaching heights of up to 50+ ft. tall. A native tree species in the Marianas Pacific Islands, it is considered one of the most valuable timber of South East Asia; a very attractive wood and one of the most decay resistant timbers known.
Good to grow as a shade tree, live fencing and perhaps can even be considered as a windbreak; non-invasive plant/tree species. Easy and simple to grow.
