Delonix regia

The official state tree of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Royal Poinciana or Flamboyant Tree is a tropical to subtropical plant/tree world reknown to be the most colorful tree in the world. Although it is locally referred to as Flame Tree, this name has been recommended not to be used since it also refers to other unrelated trees.

In tropical conditions, the Royal Poinciana grows up to 40+ feet tall and spreads widely. Its dense foliage makes it a useful shade tree, and in areas marked by dry season and drought, leaves shed in the summer and flower pods bloom making it a tree of ornamental value. In other areas, the Royal Poinciana is virtually evergreen. It is a fast growing plant but usually requires over ten years to grow to large full tree size although small trees will begin blooming beautiful flowers.

Seed germinates in approximately 30 days; plant seed 1″ deep in porous well-draining soil in 1/2 gallon pot/bag, moisten soil and place in sunny to partly sunny location.

Seeds packed fresh on date of purchase with planting instructions included. Planting information assistance is gladly provided on request.
