CITRUS LIME (LEMON KUKURACHA; HEIRLOOM)

Locally known as Lemon Kukuracha (we are unsure of the type of lime variety and its origin but it has been planted through generations), this lime citrus bears small green fruits with light yellowish flesh and juice; green fruits mature to yellow then orange with orange colored pulp and juice, and grows close to baseball size. Pick and use green fruits for stronger acidic juice, or mature yellow to orange fruits for lighter acidity. Young Lemon Kukuracha fruit gives off pleasant aroma and tastes great; great for use with all types of beverages and dish. One of our personal favorites of all locally grown limes.

As easy to plant as our other lemon & lime varieties. Plant seed 1″ inch deep in porous well-draining soil from 1 quart to 1/2 gallon pot or bag. Place in sunny to partly sunny location and keep moist; seed should germinate in approx. 30 days. Allow to grow in planter pot/bag up to 6 months until seedling reaches 12″ to 18″ inches in height before transplanting to ground or very large pot (20+ gal; the larger the pot the better). Fruit bearing attainable in 5 years, more or less. Small shrub reaching 10′ – 20′ ft. and bushy. Tropical Island Lime (Lemon Kukuracha) is sensitive to frost and extremely cold weather.
