Known locally as Iba, the tropical Gooseberry tree is a small quick growing tree reaching up to 30’ft. in height, and bears abundant small edible yellow fruit that is sour and high in vitamin C content. Fruit is usually picked or used in medicinal applications in other parts of the world. Fruit size range from nickel to quarter size.

Similar in growth habit, leaf type and fruit bearing to the Averrhoa bilimbi, the Gooseberry tree prefers moist soils and temperatures above 50*F. Planting from seed will produce substantial fruits in approximately 4 years. Great for bonsai as well.
